3rd Sector Research & Evaluation Training

SRD also seeks to provide training and capacity building to 3rd sector organisations throughout the North West in research & evaluation. SRD offers a package of bespoke training in research and evaluation techniques and approaches in order to better equip 3rd sector organisations to undertake project and programme evaluations.

In 2008 – SRD were commissioned to plan and deliver a package of bespoke training in research and evaluation for staff and volunteers from third sector organisations based in Runcorn & Widnes. The training consisted of 2 courses aimed towards giving participants greater understanding and support around how to conduct either project or programme evaluations more effectively. SRD worked collaboratively with Chief Officers from 2 local charities in the area to deliver the training. This provided a unique opportunity for learners to access the knowledge and experience of 3 practitioners with considerable research related experience.

A total of 16 learners participated in the training – here’s what some of them thought about it:-

“I’ve had some experience of conducting evaluations but with no particular training – the course has helped very much – feel I’ve got a more professional approach – different methods/tools to use in my work – more ideas of where to go for support, other data/research I could use etc….Lots of things I didn’t know/wouldn’t have considered before – a more focused approach to evaluation”.
